Building an author brand takes consistency over a period of time. With the current influence you have with a bestseller campaign would significantly increase that. We have seen authors have books and by doing a bestseller campaign it catapults the brand influence, author influence and perception in the market. On top of that it has then increased both their speaker fees as well as speaking frequency.
We utilize a pre-sale campaign working alongside the author or their team to capture both what is referred to as bulk sales and individual sales. Bulk sales happen with any order getting more than basically 3 copies of a book. Someone ordering 3-4 copies on Amazon only counts as 1 single order. So it doesn’t help sending everyone to Amazon if you know they want more copies. We utilize our longstanding relationships with all retailers to capture all sales ahead of time during the pre-sale phase of the campaign, hold those sales and fulfill those orders directly through retailers during launch week of the book.
We work with BookShop.org as they are one of the main sponsor of USA Today’s Bestseller lists. We have strong relationship with them garnering sales all over the country with independent book stores. We have strong relationships with several hundred Barnes and Noble stores directly to utilize shipping orders. Additionally we have 6 Regional Manager’s with Barnes and Noble who will break up orders to multiple stores reporting with units under 30. Additionally, BN has assigned a team to us to facility orders throughout the US in upwards of 160 stores. Book’s - A- Million works with us to take a large bulk order and run through all those orders through multiple locations for us, upwards of 250 markets. Amazon we push all individual orders through to which requires hitting at least 1,000 sold or 30% of total sales being reported. We use an Embargo Ship Date with Amazon to ensure no orders are shipped before the launch date. This can be done depending on the back end distribution set up and Vendor Central on Amazon. We’ve seen these campaigns open massive doors of influence for our clients if utilized well with doubling their price on speaker fees and speaker frequency. We typically use media to push Amazon sales.

There are a ton of moving parts to these campaigns which we typically manage as the quarterback on these type projects. Things like hosting a webinar panel of experts where people pay a fee to join - hence a copy of the book is included in that webinar etc. We use those monies to hand those orders and shipping addresses to retailers directly at a strategic time. We also have great success with Facebook live, Instagram Live etc with video and talking about the book that way to move units. LinkedIn ad campaigns and many other sources for sales.
We handle from start to finish all collaboration needed to garner sales and assist the author with making sure every sale gets reported through retailers. For example, if you sell the book on your own, you make more money but it doesn’t count as a sale through Nielsen Bookscan reporting. All sales have to be made and reported through a retailer. We essentially, help collect orders, hold those orders, and fulfill them through retailers during release month strategically based on launch week and media. You have to have all sales reported in a one week time span.
We can work with you to collaborate on sales or contacting colleagues and friends
on your behalf to buy large quantities. We make sure that sale goes through a
retailer like BookShop or Barnes and Noble as well as Book’s- A-Million. We work
with all of them daily! Media sales from doing podcast’s or interview’s happen
organically through Amazon.
We’d target specifically all reporting bestseller lists. A hardback gives you the best
chance to place on multiple lists, specifically the NY Times How To Advice list. This
means the book has to be done in hardback/ with a jacket cover.
We do have relationship with Hudson’s Airport Stores as well which can be pricey
as it is a pay for play model, however these buys can get reported. Upwards of 3
month’s in advance that you have to pre-pay for around $5k. They’ll typically
order 700-1,000 books htting 180 - 200 airport stores on a front table display. It’s
worth it for your brand awareness. Hudson’s is basically visual marketing. I’d
connect you directly to them when we’re ready on the back end with distribution.
We’ve had good success with asking folks to post pictures from their airports if
they bought a book. If you desired this we would work alongside Wiley’s team
as needed in this case.
We were hired by Erin Clifford, a lawyer from Chicago published through Forefront 4 months before the publishing date in May of 2025. We coached Erin’s team on all sales and to our surprise the team garnered over 7,000 units for our campaign. We split the reporting up
over two weeks with odd numbers running each week. Unfortunately, the publisher didn’t print enough books. Our relationships with the retailers solidified Erin hitting USA TODAY two weeks in a row regardless! Debuting at
#26 week one and #7, inside the Top 10 in the world week 2.
